Mike Mossop, DVM

I'm a small animal veterinarian in Ottawa, Canada, and that's my boy Bruce next to me. In practice, I like to focus on client communication and relationship building, so I decided to start this website as an extension of that passion.

The bond that forms between people and their pets is truly incredible, and it's been a privilege to have people let me into that relationship as a trusted medical professional. Being a pet-parent can be challenging at times, and my goal is to help people navigate the ups and downs of the journey through education and practical advice; working as a team we can achieve the better health outcomes for the furry family members we all love so much.

Moving forward, the future of veterinary medicine is bright, and I look forward to being involved as a driver of change in the profession.

Fear Free practice is an initiative that is transforming the veterinary industry. I believe it's the key to success in treating patients effectively. It also makes a visit to the clinic less stressful for everyone involved, which is why I decided to get certified. Click the logo above to find out more.

Having had pets for more than thirty years, I can honestly say that Dr. Mike is one of the most compassionate and knowledgeable vets I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He listens thoughtfully, taking great care to communicate options clearly while examining each pet thoroughly. I’ve never felt pressured by Dr. Mike and I always leave appointments feeling like there is a realistic plan in place. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a veterinarian.

Dr. Mike has been caring for my rescued felines for a number of years and he is an amazing veterinarian. He is very knowledgeable, competent, thorough and caring. It really mattered to me that he handled my little charges with such gentleness and caring while at the same time giving them very complete checkups.
— Mary (Pet-Parent to Casey, Soapey and Bridgette)
Dr. Mike has been a good support to me in providing superior care and treatment to all my dogs. I have always appreciated his ability to provide a variety of options for treatment ranging from medical to holistic. He is easy to talk to and provides a warm and non-judgemental environment for veterinary care. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Mike to any pet-parent.

More about me

When I'm not at the clinic I'm a father, a husband and a pet-parent to Bruce the black lab, and Roxanne, a feisty feline.

I was born and raised in Ottawa and am very excited to see the city come into it's own, right before our eyes. Most of my spare time is spent hanging out with friends and family, but I try to stay active and take advantage of the great natural setting our city has to offer by getting out hiking, biking or running. I love hockey (both real and fantasy) and am a bit of a movie buff too.

I've been fortunate enough to travel widely and experience many different cultures. Some of this travel has been for fun, and some for veterinary volunteer work (which luckily is also fun!) One day some of the photos from those adventures may just make an appearance here...
